Beautiful Paris day two

Patisserie Paris
Bonjour à tous! (Hello Everyone!)

After a wonderful nights sleep, it was time to get busy in Paris. After all we had lots of things to see and do, our itinerary was growing by the minute.

We began our day walking along the beautiful river seine, with the sun on our backs. Our first stop on route was Notre Dame a Gothic architectural vision of stained-glass.

Now on previous visits I have walked up the spiral stairs to the top of the Notre Dame and the views are certainly worthy. However last year I had knee surgery so climbing up little steep and spiral steps
wasn't so appealing this time.

Notre Dame

Walking back to our next stop we walked over Ponte des Arts, the bridge in which lovers declare their love by adding metal locks to the bridge. I am sure you have seen these elsewhere.

Ponte des Arts

I am not sure I really get the idea of this but maybe that is just me or maybe it is the fact that the beautiful bridge is beginning to buckle under the weight that puts me off.

Next it was onto the Arc de Triomphe. Standing tall and guarding the entrance to the Champs-Élysées.

Arc de Triomphe

These fellows are beautifully carved. The views from the top of the Arc de Triomphe are beautiful with domineering sights over the city of Paris.

Arc de Triomphe
When we came back down from the Arc we paid our respects to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier a victim of World War 1.

Tomb of the unknown soldier

The French certainly know how to pay tribute to their dead soldiers irrespective of who they were. It is a lovely tradition the torch at the top of the picture burns all day and night. At 6.30 pm veterans lay wreaths of red, white and blue.

With all the busy traffic we decided we needed some peace and quiet so we walked down the Champs-Élysées and through Jardin des Tuileries.

I busily stopped on route to take pretty pictures of flowers.

The second arch Arc du Carrousel which faces the Louvre may not be as tall but it is very ornate.

Sights to see in Paris

With all the walking, wonderful sites and fresh air our wonderful trip to Paris had sadly come to an end. We were absolutely shattered but we were pleased that we had crammed so much in to just two days.

Heading back to the station (Riquet) I stumbled upon this wonderful building a modern day art Gallery.

I hope you enjoyed travelling with me. Where is your favourite place in the world? Inspire me for my next holiday. Have a great weekend everyone. Lots of Love.

  1. I've never seen the bridge with the padlocks! I don't know how I missed it, I only found out about it when I read it on a blog recently. I can't believe after living in France for a year and visiting as many times as I have I've never come across it.

  6. These photographs are lovely! I particularly like the ones from the top of the arc. I've been to Paris many times, and climbed up many of it's monuments, but I still have to cross that one off my list!

  7. What beautiful photos! I would love to visit Paris just to see all the great architectures. I actually think the legend/story behind the locks on the Ponte des Arts is kind of sweet, but I'm cheesy like that, haha

    1. Thank you Paris has wonderful architecture. The idea is sweet behind the locks I just hate that it is ruining a bridge that was there many years before Lucy

  8. I would love to visit Scotland someday or Prince Edward Island in Canada. The lock thing isn't my cup of tea either. I actually wonder how many couples are still together when I see that. It would be a nice thing to do as a couple quietly and for themselves. As always, great photos!
